In fact, I really should have closed up shop here awhile back, but like the boxer who doesn’t know when it’s time to hang up the gloves, I stayed in the ring a little too long.
Truthfully, blogging ceased to be enjoyable for me quite some time ago, and when “the thrill is gone” and the payoff is inadequate, well, the gig is up. And you know the gig? ...It’s up!
The last blog bit that I really got a major kick out of putting together was the 6-part ‘My Homemegalopolis’ series and, for crying-out-loud, that was last August!
Due primarily to the bloglationship I had with my “virtual buddy” A-DogG at Amazon.scumbags, I began blogging here with certain expectations that, unfortunately, were never met. In an effort to “keep it short” (for once), I won’t elaborate. Let’s just say that my overall experience here at Blogspot was a bit disappointing.
But then, after a couple years, I suddenly and unexpectedly found that fellow blogger Anniee McPhee and I were developing the sort of quality bloglationship in our comment sections that I’d once enjoyed with
A-DogG. I was becoming invigorated, enthused about blogging again! And then just as suddenly and unexpectedly, Anniee passed away in July of 2011, and that took all of the new wind out of my sails. I probably should have retired from blogging at that point.
A-DogG. I was becoming invigorated, enthused about blogging again! And then just as suddenly and unexpectedly, Anniee passed away in July of 2011, and that took all of the new wind out of my sails. I probably should have retired from blogging at that point.
However, none of this means I regret having blogged here. Not at all. In my years at Blogspot I have met some nice ‘n’ cool peoples (you know who you are), and I have had some fun, some good times!
Furthermore, I feel a sense of satisfaction because I believe I have produced some worthwhile blog bits here at ‘STUFFS’. Perhaps I’m fooling myself, and Lord knows that’s possible because... Uhp! I’m an idiot!, but I believe I have posted here some rather unique blog bits - stuffs you’re not likely to find on many (if any) other sites.
Examples: I’m particularly pleased with my in-depth examinations into reincarnation and its relationship to Jesus and The Holy Bible; and I don’t think readers would be too apt to find anything like ‘#1 Rule Of Selfhood’ or ‘Goldenshadow: The Stab, The Pang, The Inconsolable Longing’ on many other blogs.
I intend to leave ‘Stuffs’ up and I hope it will remain viewable for a long time to come. And while I believe a good amount of what I’ve posted here is worth reading (or I wouldn’t have posted it), I suppose the best place for any newbie to begin would be with the “Best O’ Stuffs” category in the column at the right.
In “Best O’ Stuffs” I included links to a variety of blog bits. A few of them appeared to be reader favorites (even if they weren’t necessarily favorites of mine) such as ‘I Got Them Bad Luck With Womens Blues’; ‘M*A*S*H - S*T*U*F*F*S’; ‘The Bernard Pivot Blogfest’; and ‘The Chihuahua Cutthroat’.
But being a true maverick, I mostly included links to blog bits that I preferred, regardless of whether or not my handful of readers liked them – such as: ‘Blind Faith Vs. Educated Faith’; ‘The Makers Of "Mother Croaker’s Hemorrhoid Ointment" Present...’; and the infamous ‘Pain Management: Pills, Pillows, And Petty’.
Oddly though, two of my very favorite bits on this blog never received even one comment. ‘Favorite Jokes 'N' Quotes 'N' Stuffs (Parts 1 & 2)’ are just randomly posted quotes from incredibly diverse sources: “Aardvark, Flying” to “Zappa, Frank”, and everything imaginable in between.
It took me three years to compile those quotation collections and I love the variety of them. Imagine finding a Jack Nicholson quote followed by a quote from Patrick Henry, Yukon Cornelius followed by Gary Coleman, John Cougar Mellencamp followed by Calvin Coolidge, a Quaker slogan followed by a Tiny Tim quote, and a 1943 Communist Party Directive followed by the words of Jane Russell.
I believe many of the greatest, most revealing, interesting, humorous, and quotable things ever said or written can be found in those two blog bits and I couldn’t possibly get through a single day without repeating at least one or two of the remarks you’ll find there. If I were forced to delete my entire blog save for two blog bits, I think ‘Favorite Jokes 'N' Quotes 'N' Stuffs (Part 1 & 2)’ is what I would keep.
Well, friends, this blog bit brings ‘STUFFS’ to a conclusion, but I intend to regularly monitor submitted comments indefinitely and will continue to post and respond to all of them that do not transgress “Ye Olde Comment Policy”.
My political blog ‘FERRET-FACED FASCIST FRIENDS’ will remain active for a little longer, as I have more installments in mind that I hope to compose and post, after which that blog will also be going “Buh-bye”.
To all who read and commented on ‘Stuffs’... or read it but didn’t comment on it... or commented on it but didn’t read it... or neither read or commented on it... I thank you; my brother Nappy thanks you;
Yogi Yoey O’Dogherty thanks you; Mister Flavin, PacoMendoza , Father Xavier Rojas, and Claude Stroup at The Golden Dream Hotel thank you.

In show business they say, “Leave ‘em wanting more.” Well, it’s way too late for that!
But another one of the old show business maxims is: “Leave ‘em with a song”.
Now THAT I can do! In fact, I’m such a generous fellow that I’m going to leave you with two songs. (Truth is, I couldn’t decide between ‘em, so you gets ‘em both.) The first song is great and soulful, and the second one is good and heartfelt.
Appropriately enough, here’s something from The Band’s “Last Waltz” :

Oh say its not so! I am sorry to see that you are leaving . I know I have not visited as much as I would like and commented even less. But it was nice to trip on you now and again. Darn it all.
ReplyDeleteBut I (think) I understand what might be your reasons. Blogging can sometimes feel like putting time into a black hole. Sometimes I get the notion of stopping too. I keep at it mostly for myself. My place to rant or pretend I am a writer of the absurd. So I keep it going. I never had much of an expectation, except perhaps having someone "discover" my many and varied talents...and throw cash at me for my valuable postings. Yah....righto....I must be delusional.
Anyways, where ever you go, what ever you do, I wish you all the hapiness you can handle. Isn't that what life is about?

Stephen,
ReplyDeleteYa know Stevie, you discussed this with me long ago. I'll miss ya round these parts partner. Though since you be going I see no such need to be sticking around. As you can tell I've really stopped blogging anyway. Since ye and me been pals since amascum.dimwit since 2006 or 2007. Ya introduced me to "The Creature From Jekyll Island" "A Foreign Policy of Freedom" and "The Naked Capitalist." Heck your one of the smartest people I know by default because our society is filled with dimwits. I loved checking in on your blogs. Loved it. Followed you over here from that other site. I got your number and such, and I plan on staying in touch. And hey (not hay) if yer plannin to move outa that horrible state your always welcome in my neck of the woods.

I couldn't have said it so well. Right on, Sister!
But understand, please, that this does not mean I won't still be around, lurking and commenting on occasion. Although there won't be any new posts published on 'STUFFS', I will still be visiting and pestering my blog friends - you being one of 'em.

And, as long as you're still posting new stuffs, I'll still continue reading 'em and interacting wid ya, Br'er.
This is just the end of one aspect of my life, but it sure ain't the end of my life, nor the end of my friendships.

I tried to talk you out of quitting the last time you threatened this. I won't do that again... though not because I don't want you to continue. I just respect your desire to quit. Besides, I think you are wise to not close the door totally. You probably WILL have trouble keeping your mouth shut and we will see something again if we are observant!
ReplyDeleteI almost asked about the 11th hour comment on your last blog bit. Now I know. Everything you put in these blogs is there for a reason.
I'm sad, because often when my busy schedule gets overwhelming I pop over to Stuffs or F-FFF to get some fun and perspective. Now where to go? I don't read any other blogs, so I guess nowhere! If you DO decide to post something sometime, let me know.
I am tremendously glad and surprised to have made a friend - you - via Amazon, your blog, and email.

Hey Stephen,
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping my to thank you for your very kind comments on Lee's 'Tossing it Out' blog about my A to Z dog video.
Sorry to hear about your decision to give up blogging, but good for you at being able to so clearly evaluate your priorities. Life's too short to do things that aren't bringing us joy.
Best of luck to you in your future endeavors!
'Homemegalopolis', '7 Heavens', 'Meet Me at the Freemont...', these are like gold. Thanks for the ride. I may have to somehow cut and paste these into my travel book shelf for future reference.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever think your expectations may have been met if the blog content centered around a specific topic? What would that have been if you had to choose?
Best of luck in your next endeavor!

ReplyDelete>>...You probably WILL have trouble keeping your mouth shut and we will see something again if we are observant!
The odds are against it, Brother. But, yes, time will tell.
I also remember that not long ago you said via Email that you thought I would NEVER really quit blogging.
I knew for an absolute fact at the time you wrote it that the hand was already writing on the wall.
I had mentioned retiring from blogging so many times, however, that I completely understood why some of y'all weren't buying it anymore. I had become THE BOY WHO CRIED "RETIREMENT!" and no one was believing it now.
I will probably always have "something to say", and that's why it took me so long to finally follow through on what a part of me really, really wanted to do. (And, heck, I still have a few things yet to say at 'Ferret-Faced Fascist Friends'.)
But when I'd think about all the time I put into blogging, reminding myself it was time I could have spent riding my bicycle along the canals or playing Wiffle Ball with Brother Nappy, I would kind of kick myself.
And, as Nappy said to me the other day, one problem was that when I'd compose a blog bit, I rarely just tossed something off in a matter of minutes, as some bloggers do...
I was attempting to really "craft" something with a little bit of polish; blogging wasn't just some "public diary" for me, and as a result, I'd spend HOURS (and sometimes HOURS and HOURS!) just putting a single blog bit together. I doubt many of my readers can actually imagine just how much work went into creating a single one of my blog bits most of the time.
Eventually I just came to realize that the fruit of my labor was not worth the effort and time I was putting into it. I'd rather go bike-riding or work on trying to regain some of the velocity I've lost on my fastball, rediscover the joy of throwing a really wicked curveball.
>>...I almost asked about the 11th hour comment on your last blog bit. Now I know. Everything you put in these blogs is there for a reason.
Ha!-Ha! Thank you, Bro. That is exactly RIGHT! The Michael Corleone quote, too!
I often slipped a great deal of vague references into most of the blog bits - much of which (unsurprisingly) went unnoticed. Even the second half of the title of THIS particular blog bit and some of the characters mentioned in it is a reference to some mostly forgotten piece of radio/television entertainment.
>>...I am tremendously glad and surprised to have made a friend - you - via Amazon, your blog, and email.
Ditto, Brother! Just because of some of the peoples I've met through blogging and other Internet activity, I would never, ever consider the experience to have been a waste of time.
I love you, man. (JW!-JW!)

"Gold", eh? Cool! I can live with a compliment like THAT!
And you just made me realize something... I don't have 'Meet Me At The Fremont' linked under "The Best O' Stuffs". Are you just remembering that one from having read it way back when it was originally posted? Or did you somehow stumble upon it again recently?
If I recall correctly, I think that one might have been kinda popular with my handful of readers. Maybe I should go back and read the comments left on it and, if it seems warranted, perhaps add it to "Best O' Stuffs" as a "reader favorite". (I remember I had a good time on that trip but I can't exactly recall now what I wrote about it... except I DO know there were a couple of "hot babe" photos involved... Ha!)
>>...Did you ever think your expectations may have been met if the blog content centered around a specific topic?
You know, you always ask such interesting questions.
Well, honestly, I think it was going to be what it was regardless of what I did - regardless of any alterations I might have made. My style, my personality, is probably always going to have limited popularity.
I had given some real thought to that over the years because a few people had made occasional suggestions about changes I should try in order to acquire a larger readership.
I don't think ANYTHING could have made a significant impact; and even if it did, then it wouldn't have been what I WANTED my blog to be about, what I wanted it to be like.
I'd have to remain true to my own vision, even if that meant a lack of overall success.
I always did have a 'not too-secret' agenda (because I openly admitted it in one blog bit) that what my blogging was really all about was slyly attempting to direct people's attention toward God, and educating them about "The New World Order", global tyranny, etc.
Even when it didn't appear to be so - because the subject matter at hand was about a trip to Vegas, perhaps, or stories of my wild drinking daze with my Bay Street "League Of Soul Crusaders" buddies - everything was intended as "honey" to attract some "bees".
>>...What would that [one topic] have been if you had to choose?
Well, if I had narrowed all my writings down to addressing a single topic, it would necessarily have to be a two-fold topic. The same one I mentioned above: The reality of God and His Son, and the deception of "this world" (meaning, again, "The New World Order").
Because I view both of those subjects as but two sides of the same coin. The NWO is alluded to in 'Revelation' from The Holy Bible (as well as in certain portions of The Bible's 'Old Testament').
I believe that a study of The Bible actually necessitates a study of, and awareness of, world history and modern-day politics; they can't really be separated because they are subjects intertwined with each other.
I go into more detail about this idea in the book review I wrote for Tal Brooke's 'ONE WORLD'. Not sure if you've ever read that one, but it's located somewhere at 'Ferret-Faced Fascist Friends'.
Excellent questions, as always, Sig.
By the way, I now have Google Chrome installed as a browser. It doesn't quite work to the full extent that it should, but it does allow me to view some things I couldn't previously see with the old browser.
So... now that you've got me thinking about it again, I am going to go back to our comments at "F-FFF" and see if I am now able to visit your old blog/website. If I have success, I will try to leave a comment for you there, so you'll know I finally broke through. (Be watching, Brother...)

Who Bought All Those Pre-9/11 Puts Anyway?
Very good article! And I tried several times to leave a comment but the system wouldn't allow it. (As I said, this browser thang still ain't workin' exactly right.)
I couldn't help noticing that the blog bit in question had zero comments posted to it.
It seems you get the same reaction to that sort of "stuffs" that I do. In short, The American People just don't wanna know about it! Don't tell 'em that their Uncle Sam was in any way involved with the dastardly deed on 9/11, even if it's true (in fact, ESPECIALLY if it's true), 'cause they don't wanna even THINK about it, don't wanna mentally entertain an inconvenient truth like THAT even for a moment.

SJM,
ReplyDeleteThanks for looking. You know, during the 3 years I posted to that blog I purposely prevented any readers from publicly commenting, except through direct e-mail. I had maybe 200 followers and about 50 hits a day but I felt that the comments would alter my trading methods somehow, and unlike other sites, I posted my results daily. After I stopped posting I turned on the comment section.
I have to say that I appreciated the way you handled opposing opinions on your blog (and on Amazon)and I have adopted a "WWSD" attitude when dealing with those who would rather argue just for the sake of arguing. (By the way, that's "What Would Stephen Do". You deserve it.
The real underlying theme for Monkey Throw Dart is more about greed and market corruption, although the "making money" part really draws a crowd.
Richard Ney, the actor and author of 'Wall Street Jungle' spoke out about this corruption and was blacklisted in as many ways as you can imagine.
And the corruption, as you know, is worse than ever today. You can buy a gallon of gas for 2 pre-1964 dimes (thanks Federal Reserve). Spectulators at the NYMEX create phony demand for gas and oil, Congress continues to profit from inside information while creating the illusion of due diligence. But I digress. You are right...making the effort to wake them up is all we can do.
Sorry for long comment but I'm just pointing out (in roundabout fashion) that you may have influenced more folks than you realize. Is that the domino effect or the butterfly effect? Either way they're both very powerful.

ReplyDelete>>...I appreciated the way you handled opposing opinions on your blog (and on Amazon)
Wow! You were reading my "comment debates" all the way back in the Amazon days? That was a long time ago.
When Amazon first introduced the "comment" system, with NO reviewer control (a typically stupid BigBitch.com idea), my first thought was like: Oh Crap!
Because I knew how controversial many of my viewpoints were and how many dissenting voices they would attract. But it didn't take me long to realize that the Left is always wrong, and always leaves itself open for a "Right Cross" eventually. Stupid, stupid socialists!
I can only imagine some of the nasty comments that must have piled up there over all these years since Amazon stole from me my ability to respond to them, and I walked away. The only times I go there anymore are to occasionally add something to my Wish List or look something up (e.g., What year was such-and-such book published?, etc.)
>>...and I have adopted a "WWSD" attitude ... (By the way, that's "What Would Stephen Do".
Dang, Brother, that's a heckuva nice compliment. Sheesh! Me, I'm always thinkin': "What Would Jesus Do", if he were curmudgeonly, disgusted, and really wanted to slam this non-brain-havin'-commie-clown with an insult he won't soon forget?
And then that's what I do. (Ha!)
>>...although the "making money" part really draws a crowd.
I guess so. Man, your blog was attracting far more attention than any of mine EVER did!
I definitely intend to return to it from time-to-time (when I have a little more of that - "time", I mean - after this "graveyard" job dies) and see what else you posted there.
In fact, I'm toying with the idea of posting at '...Fascist Friends' the second part of that article I mentioned. If I do, would you mind if I named your blog as being where I found it and if I linked it to MTD?
I've read '...Rubicon', etc., and naturally have known for a long time about the apparent insider sell-off indicating foreknowledge of 9/11, but I didn't recall that investigations linked it back (possibly) to that individual with his banking and Intelligence Community background. (I may have known that at some point, but damn, I'm getting old and so much has slipped my mind. That's why I keep all my yellow-highlighted books!)
Continued Below...
PART 2 OF 2:
ReplyDelete>>...Sorry for long comment but...
Oh, man, don't EVER apologize for a long comment! I love that stuffs! That's some of what I miss...
Were you reading the blog I had at Amazon for some months? If so, do you remember the long comment adventures A-DogG and I used to go on?
That was so much fun! He had a sharp, creative mind, and my blog bits were just like jumping off points for us to start riffing.
I remember a couple persons stating that they liked my blog bits, but what they especially enjoyed was seeing where A-DogG and I would go with them in the comment sections.
One might think that would hurt my feelings, but far from it. I always thought the comment excursions were the best part too! A-DogG had a way of bringing out the best o' me.
And A-DogG and I had these ongoing gags that would keep recurring; I can't even remember 'em now, except for one: At some point in the comment exchange of each blog bit you could count on either A-DogG or myself mentioning Robert Blake or his TV character Baretta. It was funny, because it always seemed to happen naturally - it never appeared contrived or forced - but sure as sh#t, somewhere along the way, Blake and/or Baretta would make an appearance.
Just before she passed away, my friend Anniee was starting to become very A-DogG-like here. Have you seen any of her comments? They would go on and on, sometimes kinda crazy (depending upon how much absinthe she'd consumed, most likely), but she was very entertaining and was about as insane, conservative, and passionate as I am.
In a few places, our train of thought even jumped the tracks, from the comment section of one of my blogs and into a comment section of the other blog, and even into the comment section of one of HER blogs.
She was a lot of fun, and I really miss both A-DogG AND Anniee.
So, never apologize for a long comment... shoot, Bro, even two- and three-part comments are perfectly acceptable! A-DogG, Anniee, and I often ran out of character space and had to break our comments into multiple parts.

Anniee, ADog-G, and SJM...good stuffs. Like-minds, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there are a few more nasty,'emotional' comments on Amazon. Plenty of opinions out there from the close-minded.
OK to link to MTD even though it's just internet space junk now, or you can just cut out the middle-monkey.
I wish that story would get more press. It's one thing to try to prove that the WTC was brought down by other means such as explosive charges, or that missiles were used instead of passenger planes, etc, but when you are staring at documented proof that an obscene number of "bets" in the form of options were placed against the airlines a day or two before 9/11...
...anyway, if I did that, every gov't 'acronym' would have busted down my front door the next day. Since when can't the gov't or the Washington Post or someone/anyone follow the money trail...unless they don't want to?
Would be great to get your 'take' on it at FFFF.

ReplyDeleteSorry my "response time" has slowed recently. The job (working "graveyards") has been hell on me. I guess I'm now officially too old for that crap.
>>...OK to link to MTD even though it's just internet space junk now...
Well, pretty much the same with 'STUFFS' at this point.
>>...or you can just cut out the middle-monkey.
HA! Well, I'd just as soon link it to the "middle-monkey" as someone might find some other useful, timeless posts at 'Monkey Throw Dart'. I'm looking forward to exploring it more thoroughly myself before long.
>>...I wish that story would get more press.
Ahh, yes. But that wouldn't do. What they DON'T WANT is people getting wise and starting to ask the really pertinent questions. More press would definitely be counterproductive to the agenda of the press.
>>...anyway, if I did that, every gov't 'acronym' would have busted down my front door the next day.
Exactly!
>>...Since when can't the gov't or the Washington Post...follow the money trail...unless they don't want to?
Exactly!
There's plenty the press won't touch despite a plethora of solid evidence pointing to guilt. The 9/11 story, Barack "USAP" Obama's phony birth certificate, the phony "Global Warming" scare, et al.
That last one only got exposed, finally, because the lying "scientists" actually got caught with their hands in the cookie jar with the hacked/leaked Emails to prove it.
The press has been one of the primary players in the conditioning of Americans for the New World Order... as you undoubtedly are fully aware.
>>...Would be great to get your 'take' on it at FFFF.
Kind of you to say but actually, Bro, I don't really have any original thoughts on the matter; I only know what I've read from various non-mainstream sources.
I'll probably just announce it with a brief explanation of what it is and where it came from, and then just post part 2 of that writer's article and let it speak for itself.
I'm pretty close to "written-out" myself, and only have perhaps 3 more "ORIGINAL" blog bit ideas to compose before sticking the fork in 'F-FFF' as well.
Hopefully this weekend I'll get several things up over there, including this 9/11 insider sell-off article in question.

Quitters never win and winners never quit. I think I hurd it from R.Bass. Loved the MASH thing, I remember you working on it and I believe the gig got in the way of our drinkin a time or two. Such a tragedy as is your ceasing to blog. I will admit I did not comment as much as I should but i did enjoy reading your Stuffs and walking, or should I say stumbling down memory lane quite a few times.
ReplyDeleteLove ya man in a strictly JW fashion.
Now move it, now move it, now move it. AND thinkin maybe I didn't get the last reference in the picture.
...And GENERAL POOHREGARD ~
ReplyDelete>>...Loved the MASH thing, I remember you working on it and I believe the gig got in the way of our drinkin a time or two.
Yep. And I've never forgiven Alan Alda and the M*A*S*H production company for that. There are just so many drinks a man can consume in his lifetime, and having to report to Stage 9 so often really cut into my allotment!
...But even so, I drank more than I did not (and undoubtedly showed up on the set hungover as hell more than a few times). You know the gig.
>>...I did not comment as much as I should
You're telling me! Had you commented mo' better often I wouldn't-a quit.
>>...AND thinkin maybe I didn't get the last reference in the picture.
I took the photo from my TV screen with the "captions" feature turned on. If you look closely at the bottom you'll see the caption reads, "See you." But that's a lie the size of Texas! Anyone 'with ears to hear' knows that what he really said was, "See ya."
Why don't you start a blog of your own, so I'll have someplace to not leave comments?
...And Pooh...JW!

Stephen, you will be missed! I'm very sad that you are giving up blogging. I even started calling this lovely state of ours "Airheadzona" because of you. I loved reading your blog and especially like the reincarnation in the Bible series. You know I did! :-( Now I'm all sad and "stuffs".
ReplyDeleteMARJORIE ~
ReplyDeleteHa!-Ha! Well, don't be all "sad and stuffs" ...just be stuffs!
And OF COURSE you're calling this state we're living in "Airheadzona"! Because if you weren't, it would mean you were one of 'em!
;o)
Well, my friend, I'll still be around from time to time; no one gets rid of me THAT easily.
Thanks for your support, especially on the "reincarnation" series, because a lot of work went into that and I appreciated getting a few complimentary responses, of which yours was the grandest.

Hmm, did I break you with the tagging? I will miss your rhetoric and humor--as well as the completely random, and yet totally logical association of quotes and pop culture. And where will I receive my musical education now? Take care of you. I hope you still stop by from time to time.
ReplyDeleteJULIE ~
ReplyDeleteThanks!
No, your "tagging" didn't break me. In fact, a portion of this blog bit had already been composed before you tagged me. And that's what I meant by the Michael Corleone quote:
“Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.”
Yes, I will still stop by from time to time. No doubt.
And as for your musical education... Ha! Well, you were doing just fine without me (all except for that Heavy Metal sh-tuffs!)

Say it ain't so STM! Oh well, I guess I'm part of the problem. I just no longer have the time to read and comment on all your posts. Though I know you probably realize that not too many people enjoy your "style" of humor more than I. I'll especially miss your road trip stories, I always found them entertaining.
ReplyDeleteAt least now I can finally "catch up" considering there will be no more new post for me to be buried underneath. I hope you have something new planned for your time, and that you still have my email address. You may no longer be posting, but I'll be here reading. : )

OL' WP ~
ReplyDeleteIt's so, Bro. Not sure what I'll be doing with my time now, but most anything would be more productive than blogging had become. Maybe I'll meditate more.
Haven't even been taking many road trips lately, so that "inspiration" had kind of dried up and blown away too. (I'm still alive and kickin' at 'Ferret-Faced...' though, but not for long.)
Nevertheless, you know how to reach me. Try to stay out of the FEMA camps, McBuddy!

Awwww, Stephen I hardly knew ya! I'm sorry I'm just now reading this, but I'm not a very good blog-hoppin' gal. I stopped by tonight because you'd commented on a couple of my Nostalgic Sunday posts, and I noticed you hadn't done that in a while. BUT, ya gotta do what makes YOU happy and sane and all that good stuff, so I totally understand. Live long and prosper, my friend!
ReplyDeleteStephen, I've been away for awhile...just like you, "the thrill is gone". Well, maybe not completely, but blogging was starting to become forced, less fun, a road block in my otherwise productive day...I will miss you. Seriously. I think if we had grown up in the same town, we would have been good friends...listening to great music and drinking a good margarita and asking what the meaning of life and death was all about. You are talented, funny, sweet and the best blogging commenter ever to grace the pages of my feedback form! Hope you find that special something that keeps you going day after day- a big dream that will take you places, make you feel young and wild and free again..that sorta "stuffs"...
ReplyDeleteSo long, my friend. It's been a privilege...
RAE ~
ReplyDeleteThanks for the very kind comment! Well, I won’t be gone entirely - I still intend to make my presence known from time-to-time. I’ll still be lurking and commenting occasionally.
I also want you to know that I think you are a very talented writer. The Blogosphere is so full of women writer wannabes, and yet sadly, the vast majority of their blogs seem to display no especially discernable talent, no great facility with words, humor, cleverness, creativity (at least not that I’ve often noticed, anyway).
But your blog DID (DOES)! I always recognized that you were a “real writer” (even if you weren’t yakking endlessly about some new “WIP”, or YA story idea, or going on and on about a big dream to be published, etc.)
Your blog was one of only a handful that I’ve found where the ability to manipulate words, express humor and evoke pathos in the reader was readily apparent. YOU are someone who I think OUGHT to be pursuing a writing career! Unlike so many of these “dreamers” (in my opinion), you have genuine talent. YOU are one who really SHOULD BE attempting to publish.
I would eagerly read a memoir “wrote-by-you”, as you always seem to find the humor and the sensitive chord in even “everyday” events.
Thanks again for the nice “goodbye” and best wishes always . . .

Hi Stephen! I'm almost speechless because of your thoughtfulness in commenting on my blog about the death of Andy Griffith. You're a cool guy! I left you a comment there, too. Hope all is well with you...!
ReplyDeleteBECKY ~
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks a lot! (But actually, it's like 112 degrees here in Phoenix, so for "a cool guy", I sure am sweating quite a bit!)
I am heading back to your blog again right this minute...

Thanks...and I understand about the temps...Here in St. Louis we are used to hot and HUMID summers...but this year....we're having some record temps, and many days of 100+ degrees!
ReplyDeleteBIG NEWS -- just realized TV Land is having an Andy marathon right now...July 4th, 7:47 am CDT. All day today, tomorrow, Friday...don't know if it goes all weekend or not...but I think all your fav episodes are on! Check out http://www.tvland.com/tv-schedule/andy-griffith-show
Thanks, BECKY ~
ReplyDeleteBrother Nappy and I had a TAGSfest last night. I have to work today, but I'll let him know about the Andy Griffith TV-Land marathon!
~ D-FensDogg
'Loyal American Underground'
Hi Stephen....Me, again! I was mistaken about The Andy Griffith Show being run continuously all weekend on TV Land, but they are running many episodes. You and your brother can check out the TV schedule, to know for sure. (Sorry about that, Chief!)
ReplyDeleteAhh, no problem, BECKY-O!
ReplyDeleteWe got all the best ones (B&W) on DVD, and can watch 'em any ol' time (and do!)
The other day, when Brother Nappy and I had our TAGSfest, I even watched a color one from Season 6 (the only color season I own), 'THE BATTLE OF MAYBERRY'. That is one episode in color that is on a par with the best o' da Black & Whites.
'The Battle Of Mayberry' actually served as the inspiration for one of my few short stories: Version #2 of 'The Legend Of Cordes Junction'.
Anyway... TAGS rules! Rocks! ...Whatever.

Stephen, thank you so much for your recent blog comment. Seeing your name in my comment section always makes me happy, before I even read what you have to say! So, I guess that means you better not ever leave a "mean" comment! :)

ReplyDeleteThanks! And not to worry... no mean comments from me. I save those for my enemies, just before I kill 'em.

ReplyDeleteWell, my oh my, aren't I a little late to the party? I stumbled upon this blog (oh, that's how that Stumble Upon got its name) from Little Things, another funny blog. What a great post this is and aren't you funny?? I hope you are writing elsewhere...too much talent! Good luck to you person whom I may never read again unless you resurrect your blog or publish a book. Which you should.
ReplyDeletePAM ~
ReplyDeleteI thank you for the kind komment. And it came at a really good time, because I could use a little "cheering up" right about now.
Not sure how you found me at the 'Little Things' blog, as I've not visited there for quite awhile. Maybe you read some very old comment I left there?
I AM still writing, but only at my political blog (which isn't often funny), and I don't expect to leave that one active for very long.
I did find a publisher for my book manuscript, but when she said it wouldn't be released until December 22, 2012, I told her, "Thanks anyway, but the Mayan Calendar says we won't be here then."
Thanks for stopping by and saying nice things.

Stephen!!!! I am SO HAPPY to see your lovely name and the words of Humor & Wisdom that you just left on my blog comment page!! I have missed you!! I wish you would stop by more often....or maybe you do, but don't leave comments???...that would be a shame, for us all.
ReplyDeleteLoved your reply to Pam above. You are so funny and we need you to post at least once a week..How 'bout that?? I'm so glad you likes yorself some Sound of Music, too. Now I'll think of you whenever I watch the movie, or listen to the soundtrack! :D
HiYa, BECKY-O!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comment. And, yes, I do come by your blog on a fairly regular basis, but I don't leave any "words of Humor & Wisdom" (Ha!-Ha!) unless I have any I can spare (which ain't often).
Glad to know that things are going so well for you and your writing!

Hey Stephen....Happy Day After Turkey Day. Did ya do anything special? Every day really is a thankful day, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHiYa, BECKY-O!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wish.
Did I do anything special?
I guess that all depends upon how "special" one considers work to be.
Yep, I clocked-in, worked for eight hours, and then I clocked-out for the day and went home.
Pretty special, eh? HA!
Well, actually, that's what I did the day AFTER Thanksgiving. For Thanksgiving, some of the family got together and ate too much. So, yeah, I guess that IS kinda special.
I hope you had a great T.D. too, my friend!

Happy New Year! :)

LISA ~
ReplyDeleteReally nice to hear from you again! (I figured you wuz gone fer good.)
I thought of you recently: A friend of mine, who has a massive music collection, asked me if I could recall the name of the Christian Rock group I had recommended to him long ago. Well, I had been introduced to the group by YOU, back during that '15 FAVORITE MUSIC ALBUMS' Blogfest.
I thought I knew the name of the group (Third Day) but wanted to make sure, so I went searching, Googling, etc., trying to locate your Blogfest entry. But everything you had ever posted before (back when I knew you) was gone, Gone, GONE! You had deleted it all. (WHY?!)
Then I discovered that you and I had discussed the group in the comment section of MY Blogfest entry, and from our old dialogue I was able to determine that indeed 'Third Day' was the band's name.
So, how the heck are you? What's going on? What's new in your life? And WHY did you completely delete your old blog? You had put a lot of work into that and had a lot of good stuffs on that blog! WTH?!
So, give me an update, eh?

Wanted to say Happy 2014 to you. I wish you all things wonderful this year!! And as soon as I can, I'll e-mail you at your other address. ~
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're going out of business. But thank you for commenting on my blog this week. Much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteWell I took a long break. maybe do that and come back if you feel like it.
ReplyDeleteNah, I won't ever resurrect this blog. Heck, I'm trying to blog my way to a break (or retirement) on the OTHER blog as well.

Well, I came by to congratulate you and mention the shoutout I gave to you on my blog. I guess it's fitting that you're Old Broad winner for your feisty Ma stories, as you're saying "goodbye." I'm sorry that you're leaving, though. You've been an integral part of blogland for years. We haven't always agreed (we're on opposite ends of the political spectrum) but your heart and passions speak volumes. I greatly respect that Stephen.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations from the Old Broads, and I hope you enjoy the book.
Thanks, ROBYN, I appreciate the kind words!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am a registered Independent and a strict Constitutionalist, so it may surprise you to learn that I'm on the opposite end of the political spectrum from the Republicans, too.
My other blog, 'F-FFF' is still operational, but not for long. I've said everything I have to say about 100 different ways.
I have no doubt that I will enjoy the book. Many thanks for that!

ReplyDeleteHa! Well, you're a sweetheart, dIEDRE! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis blog went kaput a long, long time ago. However, as long as I continue to get double digit votes on my 'Battle Of The Bands' blog, I shall endeavor to persevere.
I owe you a poem(?) on your Streampebbles blog, and I will keep that promise soon. I'm just trying to find one that isn't too deep and dark. Surely I must have written at least ONE poem that was happy, amiright?
