'BACK HOME & SOBER' (Or, 'WHAT I DID ON MY SUMMER VACATION')

.
Hello, you goodniks, you no-goodniks, and you low IQers!
As you may or may not know, I was on vacation last week in Wisconsin, or "Dairyland, U.S.A."
.
I saw some fabulous old buildings in Milwaukee:
.
.
And even more in the small town of Appleton.
My favorite of them had to be this one, located in downtown "Appletown":
.
.

.
I was just strolling along College Avenue when I glanced to my right and involuntarily uttered a "Wow!" It looked like something that had been fabricated for a Halloween Haunted House experience, but I crossed the street and took a good look at it, and it appeared to be authentically antique. And vacant. Ready for you to move in and start your new business.
.
It's not so easy to see in these photos, but at the very top is a horse's head protruding from the building, and just below the flower-shaped window, on either side, are gargoyles. GARGOYLES! Hokey-Smoke! How cool 'n' creepy is that?! What a fantastic building!
.
Anyway, I have posted on my blog a four-part blog bit about my vacation. Not here, but on my "real" blog. You know, like my REAL blog? So, why don't you quit Moosin' around and Rocket on over there and check it out? It's a story that's full of it. Excitement, I mean. And humor. And PICTURES!!! Just click on the link below, dudes and dudettes, and it will take you where the action is.
.
And now HERE'S something I hope you'll really like!

  4. It's a shame-if you mentioned you'd be in Milwaukee, I missed it. There's (or there was) a bar there that I thought was unique enough to warrant a visit.

It's called the Safe House, and as you may guess by the name, it has a spy motif. There are fake bookcases that are doors, video cameras, and a big red alarm outside the ladies room door that no one wants to tell you what sets it off.

  5. Nice photos. And to all those who haven't gone to Stephen's real blog to read the vacation account--check it out! It's long, but it reads quickly and it's a fun read.

No, I don't recall that I mentioned to you that I'd be traveling down to Milwaukee. I only mentioned Appleton and a visit to the JBS, but I was pretty sure you didn't know that "Appleton" REALLY meant "McCarthy".

Yeah, that IS too bad, because the bar sounds very cool and I definitely would have checked it out. In fact, I think you may have even mentioned that bar once before in one of our many discussions.

Thanks for backing me up, Brother. Although, to be entirely honest (now), I was lyin' when I stated that the blog bit on my real blog is filled with "excitement". Actually, there's NO excitement (unless one is inclined to be generous and count that one paragraph where I almost died). :o)

And the statement that it's filled with humor is a highly dubious claim. But, heck, honesty doesn't gain one readers. Eh? Ha! Anyway, thanks for the kind words, Buddy! [But it DOES indeed have lots of pictures! I told the truth there.]

  9. Well, OK.

But I suspect a trick! Why put a travelogue on the other blog? Are you trying lull us into a false sense of security, only to indoctrinate us with - GASP - ideas???

    I don't know about this!
